Aliso Canyon in July

You might recognize Aliso Canyon from my last post re: fires in 2008. Yesterday I went hiking with my friend Lou and got these photos.

First, a wild rose.

Next, a rose hip–the seed and fruit of the wild rose. Very high in Vitamin C.

This little guy paused on the trail, cocking his head this way and that, like he was posing, so I figured he wanted me to take his picture.

The psychedelic colors on the right are refractions, as I was shooting toward the setting sun.

During the hike we kept hearing the distant drone of many bees. Obviously this guy has friends, and hive collapse syndrome hasn’t killed them all.
