December 27, 2010

It was a cold, blustery day.

These vines were growing near the trail.

I love walking alone — it’s a kind of meditation.  Just after I had a particularly interesting realization, which I now of course forget, I heard an unusual bird call and saw this hummingbird sitting on a branch just above Palisade Trail.   Note the intense red on its head.

It kept taking off, then flying back to its favorite branch.

These trees have survived fires and stood long in the wind.
