A long walk after the rain

Today (Dec. 23) I got off my lazy vacationing butt and went for a long walk on a trail near my house.  I was thinking of going down into Aliso Canyon, but at the last minute changed my mind & took the higher Palisades Trail along the side of a cliff.  Was I glad!

There was still a little fall color, and a lot of bare branches. The air was fresh & fragrant.

Water stood in pools along the way & green grass was sprouting everywhere.

Mushrooms, too.  I got down into the mud for these closeups.

They were on a steep, soggy hillside that I was climbing with a wary eye for mudslides.

Meanwhile the sun was getting lower and the sky was getting interesting.  See my next post for some cool sunset photos.
