We have a pear tree next to our compost pile. The tree was there when we bought the house, and out of sheer laziness, I just left it there, even though most years it produced few fruit or no fruit. However when it did produce fruit, they were some of the sweetest and best pears we ever tasted, and I think the leaves are photogenic in a ragged, spotty kind of way.
